The game was moved from Springwood to Labrador ensuring it was a big travel for the boys and this was seen on the score board as Springwood easily kept pace with the Rayners in the first quarter. This was reversed in the second as the Rayners piled on six goals to two in a performance.

Rayners defence tightened up and never really gave Springwood a chance to get back into the game. A fracas at the end of the third term may prove costly for some as club officials may instigate penalties on those involved after recent incidents in the national competition. After a heavy contest, Justin was set upon by a Springwood player protesting the treatment he received. Willow stepped in to help out and restore order and ended up being the target - it's the principal of it all!!.

Pip was dangerous again up forward and was seen handballing to a team-mate within scoring distance of goal (amazing what a C'wood win will do to people eh?). Solid contributions also made by Macca, Munchy, Chrisso, Wilkes and Deano [listen].
Goals: 5 Doc (Scotty P); 2 Macca, Davo, Rocket; Singles to Chrisso, Wilkes & Nigger.

Palm Beach rolled up with 12 players to take on a depleted Supers side that relied on a number of Masters players to step up and fill the void before a 14-a-side game commenced. With the shorter numbers, it was easy to create space and many unlikely players were forced to carry the ball (Big Jas amassed 6 bounces in a couple of runs between centre half-back and centre half-forward) into their forward lines.

The Rayners were never really challenged, however with Barra swapping sides after half time, the Rayners had to step up a level to try and contain him. Thanks goes out to all those players who pulled on a guernsey to help out the supers and see they got a game in. Gado (playing for a depleted Palm Beach), aware of Deano’s “Houston” tag, gave him the opportunity to kick the ball over a MOON! For this Footy marched him to the goal line, allowing Deano to kick the goal.

Another highlight was the best celebration of a behind and this was performed by Gaddo, and was on par with the Richie C handball goal of Round 5. No Goal Kickers recorded.

After some early confusion over who was playing first, the Masters took the field in a Maroochy Roos strip to avoid a clash in colours (a big thankyou to Yatesy for getting the under16 jumpers for us to use). The Vagg brothers tallied up numerous possessions finding each other on more than one occasion. Ronnie Dyker was unstoppable up forward taking some fabulous marks overhead and giving handballs in front of goal to set up crumbers the likes of Dicko for fantastic running goals.
Chrisso was a tireless worker on the ball, along with Tails who setup numerous attacking raids into the forward line. Captain Crunch received some of his own medicine and took a couple of BIG crunches in the game under the watchful eye of Umpire Dickers.

Goals: 3 Ronnie, Macca; 2 Chrisso; 1 to Rocket, Wilkes, Pip, T-Vagg, Deano & DICKO.

A 6goal to zip first quarter set the Rayners up for a big score with Kel, Botters and Kasper working accurately in the forward half. Quality ball and a willingness to run saw the Rayners take a 53 point lead into the main break.

Wazza was fantastic for his first game back in a while and was well supported by the efforts of Gaddo, Reidy and Matty. In the end a comfortable win, though credit to Wynnum who’s never say die attitude ensured the Rayners had to remain accountable until the final siren.

Goals: 4 Kel; 2 Botters, Chowie, Gaddo, Kasper; 1 to Rabbs, PJ, Wayno, Phil, Dickers, Shannon, Reidy, Brenno &Wazza.

The bus trip proved an eventful affair with the door coming unhinged from the trailer shortly after leaving Wynnum’s ground. Step up to the plate the fixers, everyone but Milesy had a few beers and suggestions on how to fix the problem, from duct tape to Clag glue (onya Dickers). In the end it was the plumbers touch from Wilkes that got us underway.

Further repairs were made at Deano’s place on our return to the sunny coast and many of the guys had fun playing Bob the Builder and Deano the Lumberjack in Deano’s shed. Inspector (Footy) Clueso was delegated to investigate the culprit/s who left the door ajar and we look forward to his investigative report later in the year.
